The Aquarius 2 softener

Aquarius 2 was built to reduce the limescale found in household water, whether from the aqueduct or the well. But how does limescale form? A high concentration of calcium and magnesium salts represents what is called water hardness; when these salts aggregate and precipitate, they form lime scale.

Installing a proportional domestic water softener such as Aquarius 2 provides significant energy savings and extends the life of large and small household appliances. In addition, hot and cold water circuits, boilers and cooling circuits also benefit.


What advantages does the Aquarius softener offer?

Limescale deposits and incrustations can lead to various problems in both domestic and professional settings. The presence of limescale in the water causes halos, dirtier surfaces that are difficult to clean, can lead to inefficiencies and breakdowns in appliances, boilers, and systems, resulting in increased energy consumption, increased consumption of detergents that are significantly affected by water quality. Limescale is in fact an enemy that, while invisible in water, becomes clearly recognisable once deposited. It is crucial not only to eliminate it after its formation, but also to go to the source of the problem. The benefits that the Aquarius 2 proportional automatic softener offers can also be seen in the area of sanitary hygiene: laundry is softer and cleaner, detergent consumption is reduced.


How does Aquarius 2 work?

Aquarius utilises the exchange of calcium and magnesium ions with sodium ions by running the water to be softened through a bed of strong cationic resin, rich in sodium ions. Hard water is filtered and the ions responsible for limescale deposits, calcium and magnesium, are retained on the surface of the resin and replaced by sodium ions, whose salts do not cause deposits. A multifunctional control head controlled by an electronic timer/volumetric controller periodically regenerates the filtering bed with a saturated brine solution (NaCI). This regeneration ensures the efficiency of the treatment over time. Quick to install and easy to programme, Aquarius allows reduced water consumption and reduced salt consumption thanks to the newly developed valve.
